Position: Visiting Professor of Film Studies - Department of Visual and Media Arts (2026) SummaryThe Film and Video Production program at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a Visiting Professor of film studies for the 2026–27 academic year, beginning on August 6, 2026. Individuals from all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, are encouraged to apply.Required Qualifications Master’s degree (MA or equivalent) in film studies or a related field.Demonstrated experience teaching in higher education.Successful candidates must be able to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and community members with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and empathy.Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in film studies or a related field (ABD candidates will be considered).Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education.ResponsibilitiesTeach 12 credits per semester in the Film and Video Production program, related to film history, theory, and/or criticism (normally 4 courses).Be available outside of class time to meet with students independently as needed through regularly scheduled office hours.Salary and Benefits Salary is $50,000.
