Visiting Lecturer, Film and Animation

Visiting Lecturers are non-tenure-track faculty who hold an appointment with an RIT academic department/unit. Visiting Lecturers are typically hired to fill a permanent position for a limited period of time, usually not to exceed three years, while a search is being conducted for an open position or a permanent faculty member is on an approved leave of absence. For positions approved by the provost as difficult to fill, this period may be extended to an absolute maximum of five years. Visiting Lecturers will teach classes, advise/mentor students as assigned, and may engage in department/college service activities.The School of Film and Animation (SOFA) is inviting applications for a Visiting Lecturer faculty position in Animation. Applicants with an MFA, non-terminal Mastes or Bachelor degree with related professional experience will be considered for this faculty position. The internationally recognized School of Film and Animation (SOFA) offers BFA and MFA degrees in film production with emphasis in either Animation or Live-Action, as well as a BS degree in Motion Picture Science. Students work with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, including the recent addition, MAGIC Spell Studios, with its 7,000 square foot stage, sound mixing theatre, digital color correction suite, and 4K laser projection Atmos theatre. SOFA provides a creative community where students have the opportunity to discover their unique talents and expressive potential, while at the same time developing the skills needed to fulfill any creative or technical role in the film and animation industry.SOFA enrollment is 380+ undergraduate and 50 graduate students. Required Minimum Qualifications * MFA degree or equivalent terminal degree. In certain circumstances, skill qualifications, exceptional professional and creative experience in a design-related field may be considered. * Minimum of two years full-time professional experience * Teaching experience at the university level (may include: college-level adjunct or teaching assistant experience) * Possess a solid understanding of software and ability to teach the necessary skills (Adobe, Figma, AI tools, etc.) * Effective verbal and written communication skills
