Waiting Room is a short, character-driven fiction film set entirely in a single, sparsely furnished room of a temporary migrant shelter reserved for families. Over the course of one week, three African migrants, Kuame, Amina, and her young daughter, Gaya, live together under a fragile arrangement known only to them: they are pretending to be a family in order to gain access to the family shelter. As they wait for news that may determine their future, they navigate a delicate balance between intimacy, fear, and endurance, bound by a shared secret that shapes every gesture and silence. Confined to one location, the film uses restraint, silence, and precise visual storytelling to explore themes of displacement, uncertainty, and resilience. Designed for a modest production footprint, Waiting Room will be shot over five to six days with a small cast and crew, emphasizing performance, atmosphere, and cinematic tension within a limited space.
