Wayward rockstar Morgan Simmons makes a trek back home to her homophobic hometown after a failed career in the local San Francisco music scene. When the search for her estranged best friend Phoebe begins, she’s welcomed to an unforgettable night of madness.
This short will be categorized as a psychological thriller. It will feature gore, psychological torment, and unreliable narration. It will challenge the audience to subvert their morals into something more sinister. Morgan’s longing to be something more than herself tied in with Phoebe’s petty, mournful revenge will be uncomfortable and strange. Broken up by sequences of rats in miniature houses, there will also be moments where the audience will have their comfort questioned. This short aims to challenge people’s expectations and to manipulate the view of what an energy exchange looks like between two wayward souls.
Written and directed by Mickey Altherr, a Wayne State film student. Summer project.
