Colored Films LLC is an independent film company based in Santa Monica, CA, founded by sister filmmakers Greta and Vilma Zenelaj. We create feature films, digital content, and faith-inspired storytelling with a focus on bold, emotional, and cinematic work.

We are currently promoting our latest feature film, Residuum, and are looking for a strong short-form editor who can help turn our footage, behind-the-scenes material, stills, and story moments into engaging social media videos.

Role Description

Colored Films LLC is hiring a Short-Form Content Editor to create social media videos for our independent feature film campaign.

This is not a traditional film editor role. We are looking for someone who understands short-form platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook videos.

The right person should know how to create strong hooks, fast pacing, captions, music-driven edits, emotional storytelling, and videos that make people stop scrolling.

You will be editing short clips using provided footage, behind-the-scenes clips, stills, trailer material, interviews, and other film assets. The goal is to create compelling short-form content that helps promote Residuum and grow audience interest around the film.

This is a freelance/contract role. Southern California is preferred, but we are open to remote applicants if the work is strong.

Responsibilities

• Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook

• Create strong openings/hooks within the first few seconds

• Add captions, music, pacing, text, and visual rhythm appropriate for social platforms

• Turn raw footage, BTS clips, stills, and film moments into polished social media content

• Understand how to shape clips for engagement, curiosity, emotion, and audience retention

• Communicate clearly and meet agreed deadlines

• Deliver edits in platform-ready formats

Qualifications

• Strong experience editing short-form social media content

• Understanding of Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and current video trends

• Strong sense of pacing, hooks, captions, music, and storytelling

• Ability to create engaging edits from existing footage

• Experience with Adobe Premiere, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut, or similar editing tools

• Good communication and reliable turnaround time

• Film, entertainment, faith-based, or indie film experience is a plus, but not required

• Must be able to share examples of previous short-form work
