'Shell Shock'

Diambrini Films San Diego, California

Casting for Shell Shock, a 1950s-style psychological war drama set in the aftermath of World War II. The film follows a returning American soldier in 1945 struggling to reintegrate into civilian life while battling the invisible wounds of war, what was once referred to as “shell shock,” now known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. At a time when mental health was misunderstood and often ignored, the story explores isolation, trauma, identity, guilt, and the quiet psychological collapse of a man haunted by the horrors he witnessed overseas. Blending vintage noir aesthetics with emotionally grounded realism, Shell Shock aims to shine a light on the psychological cost of war and give a voice to veterans who suffered in silence after returning home. This independent production will be shot using the iPhone 15 paired with professional anamorphic lenses to create an authentic cinematic 1950s look inspired by classic black-and-white war dramas and noir films.
