Senior Film Director

Our client, a renowned production house celebrated for its creative storytelling and artistic vision, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Film Director. This role is central to conceptualizing, planning, and executing high-quality film projects from inception to final cut. The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record in directing narrative films, a strong visual aesthetic, and the ability to inspire and guide cast and crew to achieve exceptional artistic outcomes. This is a project-based contractor role, requiring a significant presence at our studio in Kansas City, Missouri, US , though some remote coordination may be possible.

Responsibilities:
Lead the creative vision and direction for film projects, translating scripts into compelling visual narratives. Collaborate closely with screenwriters, producers, and other key creative personnel throughout the pre-production, production, and post-production phases. Select and guide actors to deliver powerful and authentic performances. Direct cinematography, set design, lighting, and sound to achieve the desired artistic mood and style. Develop storyboards, shot lists, and production plans to effectively visualize the film's progression. Manage on-set operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to the production schedule and budget. Oversee the post-production process, including editing, sound mixing, color grading, and visual effects. Provide constructive feedback and direction to the entire cast and crew. Maintain artistic integrity and ensure the film aligns with the client's brand and project objectives. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative filmmaking techniques. Build and foster strong collaborative relationships with all project stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Significant professional experience as a Film Director, with a portfolio showcasing a diverse range of successful film projects (feature films, shorts, documentaries, commercial). Demonstrated ability to craft compelling visual narratives and elicit strong performances from actors. Thorough understanding of filmmaking techniques, including cinematography, editing, sound design, and lighting. Proficiency in directing various genres and styles. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Strong understanding of production logistics, budgeting, and scheduling. Familiarity with film editing software and post-production workflows. Creative vision, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for storytelling. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred.
