Casting for "Sam & I," a student-produced live action/animation hybrid/feature film. Synopsis: Set in Louisiana, the story follows Sam, a 12-year-old Chinese American boy who uses humor and self-deprecating jokes to navigate middle school, cultural pressure, and the desperate need to belong. When his grandfather arrives from Zhejiang, China, with a mysterious, injured leg nobody will explain, Sam begins illustrating his grandfather's hidden wartime past through comics, uncovering a story that bridges generations, language, memory, and identity.
Drawing inspiration from 'Didi' (2018), 'Eighth Grade' (2018), and 'Boyhood' (2014), 'Sam & I' blends grounded coming-of-age realism with hand-drawn animated storytelling.
