'Rooty'

Casting "Rooty," a coming-of-self short about an emotionally withdrawn boy (Bastian) moving to a new town with his single mother (Mother), who quickly becomes the subject of bullying (Green); until one day he befriends a magical gorilla (Rooty) who brings vibrancy and solace to his world. Often lost in his own imagination, Bastian soon learns reality can be sweeter than fantasy when he develops a crush on his classmate (Blue) and, in return, must make a bittersweet choice about his companion. This is a fantastical dialogue-less short with themes of magical realism, growing pains, and the seldom depiction of queer joy. There may or may not be a dreamscape Golden Age-style musical number. Production will use an in-house 4K cinema-grade camera (C70).
