Seeking an enthusiastic Camera Assistant (AC) for a documentary film shooting in New Orleans, LA. This independent production explores the vibrant, often hidden, subcultures of the city's music scene, aiming for an authentic, intimate portrait of artists and their craft. It's a visually driven piece, relying on natural light and observational filmmaking to capture genuine moments. This is an entry-level, volunteer position, offering meals on set and a copy of the final film for your reel. We are looking for someone available for 1-2 day shoots, primarily on weekends, starting in early November 2026. Key responsibilities include assisting the Director of Photography with camera setup, lens changes, battery management, media management, and maintaining equipment. You'll ensure gear is prepped and organized for each shooting day, anticipate needs on set, and support the overall visual integrity of the project. Applicants should have basic familiarity with professional camera equipment (ideally Blackmagic or similar cinema cameras), understand exposure and focus principles, and be eager to learn on an active set. While owning gear isn't required, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and reliability are essential. Please submit a brief email outlining your experience and interest. We will be reviewing applications and making selections by December 9, 2026.
