No Occasion is a NYU black-and-white silent short film about a lonely, socially awkward middle-aged man who performs the same unusual ritual every month: wearing an ill-fitting suit with overly gelled hair, he visits the same bakery at the same time, sits in the same location, and eats an oversized birthday cake made for no real occasion. The film explores loneliness, routine, and the strange ways people create meaning and comfort for themselves. When his usual seat is unexpectedly taken, his carefully controlled ritual begins to fall apart...
