Lead Costume Designer - Film Production

About the Role

Our client, an independent film production company in Miami , is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Lead Costume Designer for upcoming feature film projects. You will be responsible for developing the visual style and character personas through clothing, working closely with the director and production design team. This role involves conceptualizing, sourcing, designing, and overseeing the creation of all costumes, ensuring they are historically accurate, character-appropriate, and within budget constraints. Key Responsibilities Interpret scripts and collaborate with the director to establish the visual language and historical context of costumes. Design and sketch original costume concepts for principal actors and supporting characters. Manage costume budgets, source fabrics and materials, and oversee construction and alterations. Lead a team of assistant designers, seamstresses, and wardrobe personnel throughout pre-production and principal photography. Ensure costumes are meticulously maintained and managed on set, adhering to continuity requirements. Conduct historical research and source period-appropriate clothing and accessories. Requirements Minimum of 6 years of professional experience as a Costume Designer for film, television, or theatre. A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in diverse historical periods and contemporary fashion. Proficiency in costume sketching , pattern making, and fabric knowledge. Experience managing budgets and leading creative teams in a production environment. Excellent understanding of historical fashion, textiles, and construction techniques.
