Indie Short Film Casting Call

Janneh Freeman Washington, District of Columbia

The Last Day of Recess uses a playground as a mirror for adult society, exploring government, capitalism, and social class. It turns a simple school break into a complex mini-civilization. The story focuses on the fifth-grade class on their last day of recess and how each of the characters navigates growing up and transitioning from childhood innocence to self-awareness and what their positions are in today’s society. Told through the perspective of two fifth graders who are on different spectrums of the class’s social hierarchy. Applicant must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and hold (or be able to obtain) a valid state entertainment work permit for minors where required.
