Position Overview
The Renzi Education and Art Center is seeking a knowledgeable Film and Video Production Instructor to guide an intimate cohort of students through the fundamentals of visual storytelling.
Our classes are kept small—typically around 4 students per instructor—allowing for a collaborative, hands-on studio environment. We provide the essential technology and equipment. For this upcoming session, we are highly interested in an instructor who can help interested students develop and shoot a short project with the goal of submitting it to the Film Prize Jr. competition, though this is not a strict requirement for the role.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate Digital Storytelling: Guide a small group of students through the basics of framing shots, capturing clean audio, and editing short-form video projects.
Project Mentorship: Help students collaborate on a single short film concept, keeping production manageable within the 7-week timeframe.
Equipment Care: Ensure cameras, microphones, and editing laptops are handled respectfully and stored properly at the conclusion of class.
Professional Alignment: Coordinate with the Program Director regarding the project's timeline, student engagement, and any resource or software needs.
Refined Qualifications
This role is well-suited for local filmmakers, videographers, media arts students, or school teachers with a passion for digital media.
Technical Familiarity: Practical experience operating digital cameras (or smartphones optimized for film) and basic video editing software.
Instructional Capability: Ability to patiently break down the creative process—from brainstorming a script to editing a final cut—for young beginners.
Reliability: Dependable attendance for your selected afternoon(s). We understand traffic and day-job schedules happen, but consistent communication regarding arrival times is appreciated.
Background Screening: Must successfully pass a standard criminal background check prior to the contract start date.
