Film Festival Co-Director

The Organization:

Double Exposure Investigative Film Festival and Symposium is the nation’s first and only festival dedicated to investigative storytelling on film. The festival’s highly curated slate has become a destination for top-tier investigative cinema, including Academy Award nominees and winners. The festival showcases the best in new investigative cinema, with screenings followed by rich and engaging discussions with filmmakers, journalists, protagonists, and area experts. Double Exposure combines the festival with a professional symposium where a growing community of investigative journalists and filmmakers can network, learn from each other, access resources, and plant the seeds for collaboration on projects.

The festival’s tenth edition takes place November 7-10, 2024.

The Opening:

We are currently seeking a Film Festival Co-Director to join our team at 100Reporters/Double Exposure Film Festival. As a Co-Director, you will be responsible for contributing to the overall vision and direction of the festival, as well as co-managing logistics, programming, and promotion. The role is full-time and hybrid, meaning that while it is primarily based in the Washington DC area, we recognize the importance of flexibility and are open to some remote work.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience in film festival management or related fieldsDemonstrated ability to lead a team, develop and implement a strategic vision, and manage budgets and schedules to meet goalsExcellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with filmmakers, sponsors, and other stakeholdersCommitment to inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability in all aspects of festival planning and programmingStrong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask effectivelyExperience with film programming, curation, and film industry trendsUnderstanding of digital media and social media platforms, as well as website design and managementBachelor's degree in film studies, arts administration, or related fieldExperience working with nonprofit organizations and securing grants and sponsorships is a plusPassion for storytelling, film, and documentary journalism is a must
