## POWER Youth Summer Employment Program

The Enlightenment Film Academy is a nonprofit dedicated to teaching underrepresented populations that are serious about learning the art and business of film and TV production. We're offering 50 positions through our POWER Youth Summer Employment Program, designed for youth ages 14-15 who want to gain real work experience while exploring careers in creative fields.

### What You'll Do

As a Youth Filmmaker, you'll learn to produce a short film from a script you write yourself. Your day-to-day work includes acting, moving and handling equipment, recording sound and video, editing video, and studying different modalities of film and TV production. You'll work with digital cameras, microphones, field recording devices, and computers to bring your creative vision to life.

### Program Structure and Schedule

The full program runs from June 1st through July 17th. You'll start by attending your assigned worksite during scheduled times from June 1st-3rd. On June 4th, there's a POWER Youth Summit at the Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport. From June 5th through July 17th, you'll be on site at your agency Monday through Friday, working 4 hours daily—that's 20 hours per week. From July 13th-17th, you'll participate in the End of Summer Celebration where you can showcase the projects you've created during the summer.

### What We're Looking For

First and foremost, you must have a serious desire to create film and TV production. Knowledge of digital cameras and editing software is helpful but not required. You should be ready to work in an in-person environment at LEAD Cameron Charter School, located at 1034 St. Ave. N, with the nearest MTA bus stop at Lafayette and Wharf Ave.

### Working Conditions and Requirements

You'll work in an indoor school building with a casual dress code. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 9am to 1pm. Travel is required for this position, and you'll need to be able to lift no more than 20 pounds of equipment. Your access to transportation is important since there are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville.

### Pay and Skills Development

If you're selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you'll make $12.00 an hour. Beyond the hourly wage, this summer program offers project-based employment with a focus on the arts. You'll develop "work ready" skills for future employment, whether you continue in creative fields or pursue other career paths. The POWER Youth program provides career exploration and hands-on work experience that will prepare you for what comes next.

The program was previously known as Opportunity NOW and serves youth ages 14-24, though this particular Youth Filmmaker position is designed for ages 14-15. The name POWER Youth was selected by the peer youth leadership team based on how they view themselves and their future.
