Director of Education (Full Time)

Tampa Theatre is seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial, and community-minded Director of Education to build and lead an exciting new chapter in the Theatre’s 100-year history. The Director will report to the President and CEO.

 

As Tampa Theatre expands into newly dedicated education spaces, we are creating a dynamic learning hub where young people, adults, educators, filmmakers, and community members can explore film, storytelling, media literacy, and creative expression

 

This is a rare opportunity for a visionary leader to design educational programs from the ground up while building partnerships across schools, universities, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and the broader Tampa Bay community.

 

The ideal candidate will combine educational expertise, strong project-management skills, and business acumen to develop engaging programs that are impactful, accessible, and financially sustainable.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

Develop and lead Tampa Theatre’s education vision and strategyExpand youth and summer education programsCreate educational offerings for adults and lifelong learnersBuild partnerships with schools, universities, and community organizationsDevelop revenue-generating educational initiatives and special programsManage educational operations, budgets, and program assessmentServe as an ambassador for Tampa Theatre throughout the community

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferredExperience in education, arts education, youth development, nonprofit leadership, or related fieldsStrong project management and organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to build partnerships and collaborative relationshipsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesEntrepreneurial mindset with a passion for learning and community engagementWillingness to work some nights and weekends

Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary starting at $75,000, with the range increasing based on experience and qualifications. Some nights and weekends required. Tampa Theatre provides a competitive benefits package designed to meet the needs of employees’ lifestyles, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, and an employer-matched retirement plan after one year of service. Additionally, the Theatre provides new employees with 11 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, and 10 days of vacation, plus complimentary movie admission for employee and family and all the popcorn you can eat.
