Digital Filmmaking and Video Production Instructor - Live production

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionStep into the dynamic and rewarding role of a Senior Digital Film and Video Production Instructor with an emphasis on live video production at F.I.R.S.T. Institute, where you can share your passion and expertise with aspiring film and video professionals. While teaching experience is preferred, it is not a requirement; we seek an experienced film and video production professional to join our education team as a full-time instructor! The ideal candidate for this position will have in-depth knowledge and experience in live video production, audiovisual systems, streaming technology, and the Blackmagic ecosystem, as your primary focus is instructing the next generation of live video professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching live video, streaming, and a/v concepts in a dynamic, engaging formatInspiring and supporting students with a "hands-on" and active approach as they progress through the coursesTeaching practical hands-on methods for using video switchers, cameras, grip and lighting equipment, and production audio hardwareFocusing on student creativity to achieve high-quality results with both group and independent video projectsFine-tuning the curriculum as directed and contributing to the creation of engaging lesson plansCreating a safe, supportive, creative, and dynamic environment for studentsRecommended Requirements

Working knowledge of live video production hardware and processesProfessional experience as a crew member or leader in a live production atmosphereExperience with audiovisual systems for conferences, live events, and streamingExperience with OBS Studio and other streaming softwareStrong ability to troubleshoot and maintain live production and audiovisual systemsProfessional knowledge of Blackmagic DaVinci ResolveWorking knowledge of Blackmagic and RED digital cinema camera systemsProduction experience related to lighting, cinematography, and field audio recordingDeep passion for mentorship and helping others of all learning typesPassionate about inspiring, mentoring, and helping others learnFlexible schedulePhysical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.May work outdoors in varying weather conditions during class-related projects.Must be able to lift 60 pounds at times.Must be able to physically access and navigate each department at our facility.Qualifications

Educational Requirements:High School Diploma or G.E.D.Experience Requirements:3+ years of related experience OR education in a related fieldPreferred Skills

Formal education in a related career field is preferredExperience with live video production and streamingExperience with Blackmagic ATEM switchers and related hardwareExperience with Blackmagic Studio Cameras and CCUsExperience with digital audio consoles and intelligent lighting systemsKnowledge of story development and screenwritingKnowledge of video post-production, including color gradingExperience with the Canvas LMSExperience teaching in a live, online formatDemo reel or portfolio available upon request
