Content Creator, TV & Film Production

KGET in Bakersfield is looking for an experienced, imaginative producer to lead our streaming news platform. The ideal candidate will have experience with traditional broadcast news, a creative understanding of the potential of streaming television, and the ability to bring that understanding to fruition.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collegiality: practice teamwork and cooperation as a core value.Produce shows and content, master technical aspects of creating episodes, integrate them into the app, and promote KGET+ across platforms.Curate and aggregate a steady stream of content to generate engagement and repeat site visitation.Familiarize with all available Nexstar streaming shows, identify those most relevant to the audience, and balance local and Nexstar content into a 24/7 schedule.Monitor print, TV, digital, blog, and social media for breaking news and trending stories to increase engagement and local traffic.Produce short videos and select striking photos to tell stories.Build positive relationships with newsroom staff and management; collaborate on enterprise content and market web content on broadcast.Train station members in streaming studio operations.Oversee the streaming studio production calendar.Work with engineering on issues and needs for streaming studios.Assist the News Director in hiring as needed.Work flexible hours and perform additional tasks as required.Typical DayThe Streaming Television Producer attends local editorial meetings, uses data to decide which stories to publish and how to showcase them on KGET+, and packages content from newsroom and digital reporters for optimal engagement.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentSit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, and face‑to‑face discuss with individuals or groups.Make independent decisions and decisions that impact coworkers.Handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.Perform repetitive movements.Work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions; watch for extremely bright or inadequate lighting.Pay Range$20 - $23.50 per hour, depending on experience.EEO StatementEqual Opportunity Employer.
