Job Description

EYL 365 Project is currently accepting applications for Elementary & Middle School Cinematography Youth educators for the 2026-2027 programming year. Our organization is seeking passionate and experienced Cinematography Youth Educators who have a strong interest in Social Justice and Racial Equity Arts Education. A Cinematography Youth Educator will provide in-school and/or after-school residency opportunities, generally between 9:30am - 2pm for 1.5 to 2 hours, at DCPS Ward 6, 7 and 8 partner schools and recreation centers. As part of this position, you will be responsible for providing and delivering advanced interactive and fun cinematography and film lessons to youth ages five to fourteen in a creative, structured and engaging environment. It will be necessary for the successful candidate to create and deliver lesson plans, lead cinematography & film exercises and projects, and mentor youth in the development of their cinematography & film skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage online/paperwork attendance and grading system.
Develop and implement lesson plans that effectively form a foundation in the sport and discipline of martial arts.
Act as a role model to students and support their physical, mental, and emotional growth through the practice of martial arts.
Ensure the safety of students at all time while in the school.
Monitor and evaluate student progress and communicate progress and development to parents.
Participate in belt testings, tournaments, and other academy events.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Bachelor’s Degree in Cinematography or Film; Or resume displaying vast eperience
Demonstrated ability to teach a range of skills and technologies necessary to successfully guide a student through the creation of personal moving image work from pre to post production including: shooting, recording audio and editing.
Well-versed in experimental media and installation
A demonstrated record of achievement in a personal moving image arts practice.
An ability to work collaboratively with others in the department.
One year teaching experience at the college level.
Successful experience teaching elementary and middle school level
Ability to work with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds;
Interested applicants should have a valid social security number/be able to work in the US, and complete a background check
Experience teaching Cinematography and| or Film to youth
Teaching experience with youth and children in a group setting
Reliable transportation
Uninterrupted and on-time availability for teaching hours
A willingness to learn and grow, and the flexibility to adapt to new changes
Functional problem-solving abilities
Good classroom management skills
A clear background check.

Management: 2 years (Preferred)
Teaching: 3 year (Preferred)
Working with children:2 year (Preferred)

EYL 365 Project Teaching Artists are highly skilled artists and educators, committed to creating equitable learning spaces through collaborative teaching practices and social justice pedagogy. They report directly to the Program Director and are supported by EYL 365 Project Department Heads and Program Coordinators. They work closely with classroom teachers, school administrators, and teaching artists to positively impact school communities.

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
