This is not a traditional SaaS CTO role. This position sits at the intersection of software engineering, physical operations, workflow systems, media processing, AI enhancement, and production-scale automation. You will help architect and evolve the technology that powers how millions of analog memories safely move through our digitization pipeline each year.

Location: Chattanooga, TN (Hybrid / Onsite)

Responsibilities of the Chief Technology Officer:Lead and evolve the Digifactory Operating System that powers Legacybox production workflowsDesign and improve factory automation systems, workflow routing, production tracking, and quality control systemsArchitect and optimize end-to-end video processing pipelines from capture through deliveryBuild scalable media workflows utilizing FFmpeg and related media processing toolsLead R&D initiatives related to AI-driven media enhancement, denoising, artifact reduction, normalization, upscaling, and restorationImprove software reliability, throughput, operational visibility, and production efficiencyOversee integrations involving Shopify, cloud delivery systems, metadata handling, and customer order workflowsPartner closely with production leadership and frontline teams to improve physical and digital workflowsAnalyze production bottlenecks and identify opportunities for automation and operational improvementLead technical strategy while remaining deeply involved in hands-on system development and implementationSupport technical teams across software, operations, and media engineering initiativesWhat a Typical Day Looks Like:Reviewing production workflows and identifying operational bottlenecksWorking directly with engineering and production teams to improve systems and throughputDesigning or refining media processing pipelines and automation toolsEvaluating video quality, encoding performance, and AI enhancement outputsTroubleshooting operational software or workflow issues within the DigifactoryCollaborating with cloud, operations, and product teams to improve customer experiencePrototyping and testing new systems or media processing workflowsBalancing production quality, scalability, reliability, and unit economicsYou’ll Likely Do Well in This Role If You’ve Previously:Built or led operational software systems tied to physical workflows or manufacturing environmentsDesigned media processing pipelines or large-scale video systemsWorked with FFmpeg, encoding pipelines, or GPU-accelerated media workloadsLed engineering efforts tied to logistics, workflow automation, or production systemsManaged cross-functional technical teams while remaining highly hands-on technicallyWorked at the intersection of software systems and operational executionYou’ll Enjoy This Role If You Like:Building systems that directly impact real-world operationsSolving complex workflow and scalability challengesCombining software engineering with operational problem-solvingWorking closely with production teams and understanding how work happens on the floorOptimizing media quality, automation, and throughput at scaleLeading innovation in video processing and AI-enhanced restoration technologiesWho You Are:A highly technical systems thinker with a builder mindsetComfortable moving between software architecture, operational workflows, and production environmentsStrong communicator who can collaborate across engineering, operations, and leadership teamsDeeply analytical with strong troubleshooting and process improvement skillsAdaptable, hands-on, and capable of balancing strategic leadership with tactical executionPassionate about building scalable systems that improve quality and operational efficiencyTechnical Experience Preferred:Strong experience with video codecs including H.264, H.265/HEVC, ProRes, and related formatsAdvanced knowledge of FFmpeg or similar media processing toolingExperience with GPU-accelerated processing for video or image workloadsFamiliarity with computer vision, AI-enhanced video processing, or media restoration workflowsExperience with Shopify integrations, workflow systems, or operational software platformsStrong understanding of cloud systems, file handling, automation, and production-scale architectureWhat Success Looks Like:Faster, more automated digitization workflowsImproved video quality and consistency across millions of assetsIncreased software reliability and operational throughputReduced manual overhead and stronger production economicsSeamless integration between Digifactory operations, Shopify, and cloud delivery systemsScalable infrastructure ready to support future growth and innovationWho is Legacybox:Legacybox has helped over 1 million families digitally preserve their home movies, photos, and film.
