Assistant Professor of Film Production (Tenure Track) The Film Studies Program at Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Film Production. The individual will teach a range of courses in the areas of pre-production, production, and post-production; advise film majors; engage in scholarly and/or creative work; and participate in department, college, and community service in manners appropriate to the position. Ability to collaborate across departmental subdisciplines in both teaching and creative work preferred.

RIC is a regional comprehensive public institution enrolling approximately 6,600 students across five schools: the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development; the School of Business; the School of Nursing; and the School of Social Work. Founded in 1854 as Rhode Island's first public institution of higher education, the college is located on a scenic 180 acre campus in Providence, with additional sites at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center and the Workforce Development Hub in Central Falls. RIC is recognized throughout the Northeast for its high-quality academic programs, small class sizes, hands-on learning opportunities, and exceptional value.

Required Qualifications: MFA in Film and/or Media Production, conferred by July 1, 2026. PhD with relevant film production experience will also be considered.

Experience in either narrative or documentary filmmaking.

Preferred Qualifications: Training and experience in one of the following: screenwriting, color grading, VFX work. Willingness to serve in a faculty leadership role as part of college-wide shared governance following the awarding of tenure.

Experience working with non-traditional students and a diverse student population.
